We are looking for candidates to join our Engineer Apprenticeship scheme. The scheme includes the first-year off-site training at Birmingham Met College during which you will work towards your Practical Foundation Engineering Skills and commence your Foundation Degree in Electrical and Electronic Control Engineering (Some Level 3 BTEC Units May be required in year one to bridge Knowledge to Foundation Degree). When you return to the company you will begin your competence development element at Hydraforce which will involve being budded up with an experienced engineer to apply the knowledge and skills learnt within our state of the art facility. This will help you identify other positions within the organisation that might suits your skills set. In years second and third year you will attend college on a day release basic to complete your foundation degree. In year four and five you will attend Birmingham City University to undertake "Top Up "units towards your Degree in Electronics - BEng (Hons)

You will be given full support to achieve your career targets and aspirations.

When you return to the company you will begin your competence development element in Manufacturing Engineering this will involve placements throughout our state-of-the-art facility, these skills will include:
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Working in various areas within the business
  • Production
  • Quality control
  • Design and project support

All of which will help you understand the contribution these areas make to the overall success of the business. This will help you identify other positions within the organisation that might suits your skills set. In years second and third year you will attend college on a day release basic to complete your foundation degree. In year four and five you will attend Birmingham City University to undertake "Top Up "units towards your ElectronicsDegree - BEng (Hons)

Desired qualifications

5 GCSE's (or equivalent) at Grade 7(A) or above, including mathematics (Higher Paper, English and a science, technology or engineering related subject, as well as A Levels at grade C or above in both a mathematical based subject and a science, technology, engineering or additional mathematics related subject, or 90+ credits in an engineering BTEC at level 3.

You may also wish to include any relevant extra-curricular activities that may support your application.

Future prospects

We anticipate that our apprentices will progress to permanent employment within the company. On successful completion of the Apprenticeship programme, you may be offered an Engineering status level role. Opportunities may exist in a variety of engineering areas of the business, from production to technical support however, we would try and place you within the department that you have been assisted to during your apprenticeship. We will also consider supporting to degree level of education, in an engineering related field.
