Are you looking for a new challenge as part of a dynamic, innovative and supportive team?

Then we have the perfect opportunity for you to become an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner within our Musculoskeletal team in Taunton.

Would you like to work for an innovative and forward thinking team that are at the forefront in improving MSk pathways and service delivery?

We were one of the first to roll out the First Contact (FCP) roles in the newly formed PCNs and, thanks to their proven success, we are now looking to further expand this workforce to meet its increasing demand.

We are working collaboratively across Somerset to deliver whole MSk pathway integration and a system wide host model to improve patient access to the right care, by the right person, at the right time.

The integrated MSk service in Somerset has demonstrated that it provides an easily accessible expert MSk assessment, diagnosis and advice service, with a key responsibility being identification of the correct care pathway and supporting patients to self-manage and access support in the neighbourhoods.

Do you want a role that allows you exposure to different professional settings to further broaden and strengthen your skill set?

In this role you will primarily work as an FCP in Primary Care in Somerset, based in a GP surgery in the newly formed PCNs. However, we believe in developing our employees in portfolio working so there will also be opportunities to work as an APP across the MSk pathway within our integrated MSk service.

You will also get the opportunity to evaluate the service and actively participate in audit and research and share our work at conferences and in publications.

Would you like to have genuine opportunities for growth and development within and beyond your role?
  • We are currently working with local higher education institutes to develop our workforce with the opportunity to undertake ACP modules or full MSc as the apprenticeship pathway develops.
  • You will be part of a network of advanced physiotherapy clinicians. Our highly skilled clinical team can help develop your competencies, provide peer support and professional development.
  • You will be given time and the opportunity to develop yourself and others.

Would you like to feel supported and valued whilst caring for others?

As well as taking pride in caring for our patients, we also prioritise taking care of our staff! You will be part of a very warm and welcoming team who were some of the first to pilot this FCP structure within the PCNs so they thoroughly understand the challenges of the role and the importance of supporting each other.

Would you like to work in one of the most desirable places within the UK?

You can soak up all that the idyllic countryside has to offer with our areas of outstanding beauty and stunning coastlines. You get to enjoy these perks whilst still only being a stone's throw away from bustling city centres like Bristol, Bath and Exeter and only two hours away from London.

There are excellent educational facilities in the area and, when compared to other regions, house prices are reasonable. You get to experience the best of both in Somerset, the countryside and the cosmopolitan - there is truly something for everyone!

There is the expectation that you will be flexible to meet the needs of the service and in return we will offer an exciting role within a supportive team with flexible working arrangements.

Is this the ideal role for you?
  • We are open to applications from established and developing APPs who are passionate about managing patients at the start of their MSk pathway and motivated to consistently deliver quality clinical management of musculoskeletal conditions.
  • We are ideally looking for employees who are already working at an advanced practice level as measured against the HEE competency framework, and for employees who have the foundation MSk skills and would like to develop towards an FCP role with full support and training.
  • We encourage and welcome informal calls and visits so please get in touch if you would like to find out more ...
