Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

Holding the relevant qualifications as set out in the person specification (or equivalent experience within the disability sector) you'll understand the work of the Adult Social Care Division and the importance of promoting independence for service users.

Personal qualities

Personal experience or experience of working with people with visual impairment is desirable, as is relevant experience in other health and social care settings, which will also be taken into consideration.

This course requires students to learn to teach people with visual impairment in high-risk situations, such as crossing roads independently, working safely in the kitchen and managing home and personal care.

It is therefore a requirement that applicants will already be competent themselves in these daily activities and have the capacity to monitor the safety of those they are learning to teach.

Desired qualifications

Holding the relevant qualifications as set out in the person specification.

Future prospects

In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme and generous annual leave plus bank holidays.
