Centronic is one of the world's leading manufacturers of radiation detectors, having been established in 1945, specialising in the design, manufacture, testing and development of radiation detectors. We offer a unique combination of capabilities and, we believe, the widest variety of detectors of any manufacturer.

We have an exciting Engineering operative level apprenticeship position within a production department, manufacturing Geiger Muller Detectors. This role will be predominately based in the electrochemical plating area, which is the first step in the GMD process. The function of this process is to take the raw materials (stainless steel cathode cans) and electrochemically plate the internal surface with chrome.

This is done by:
  • Loading and unloading jigs and fixtures
  • Monitoring and adjusting process variables
  • Visual inspection to ensure quality standards are met
  • Time management and daily planning to ensure production targets are met

Other processes which may be undertaken include chemical etching (cleaning of components), subassembly of components, operation of vacuum systems (pumping components) and final product testing.
