CLINICAL ENGINEERING

TITLE: DECONTAMINATION AND LOGISTICS SUPPORT

BAND 2

Permanent

37.5 HOURS PER WEEK

Applications are invited for 1 x WTE Decontamination and Logistics Support to work in Clinical Engineering in Derriford Hospital.

The successful applicant will work under supervision to support Clinical Engineering by logging service requests onto the computer database and delivery, collection and decontamination of a wide range of medical devices. They will also learn to assist the Stock Control and Logistics function within Clinical Engineering.

Applicants should have obtained 5 GCSE passes at Grade C or above including Maths, English and Science or a Level 2 City and Guilds / NVQ in a relevant subject. Evidence of an interest in technology will be a distinct advantage. They will require basic computer keyboard skills and should be able to communicate effectively with all levels of hospital staff. This post engages with available training courses and encourages individuals to complete and maintain a personal portfolio of competencies towards progression opportunities. Progression to higher bands is by competitive selection.

Clinical Engineering is part of Healthcare Science and Technology based at Derriford Hospital. The Department employs 26 Technologists, 5 Administration Staff, 7 Support Workers and several Apprentices providing a management service for Medical Devices in University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, the Plymouth and Cornwall Community Healthcare organisations and other healthcare providers. The Department is also responsible for providing a Medical Equipment Library service.

DerrifordHospital is a large 1000 bed hospital that has teaching status as part of the PeninsulaMedicalSchool.
