CONSULTANT GASTROENTEROLOGIST

TORBAY AND SOUTH DEVON NHS FOUNDATION TRUST

Torbay in South Devon is a fantastic place to live and the Gastroenterology department at Torbay Hospital is a great place to work. We are looking to appoint a friendly, dynamic consultant to work in our equally friendly Gastroenterology team of 9 consultants. The candidate should be independent in Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy; an interest in ERCP could be accommodated.

Torbay Hospital is a regional endoscopy training centre and bowel cancer screening centre. We have been chosen to deliver significantly more endoscopy training in the next 5 years as part of the recently established South West Endoscopy Training Academy. There will be opportunities to develop interests in endoscopy training and bowel cancer screening. The hospital is part of the HIP2 wave of major rebuild and refurbishment, which will include a new endoscopy unit with expanded teaching facilities.

We are a cohesive team and enjoy strong links with our GI surgical and radiology colleagues. We have a dedicated outpatient unit with co-location of medical and surgical clinics, specialist nurses and space for infusions and ascitic drains. The Trust is committed to developing its services across 7 days.

The successful candidate will be expected to have the skills to participate in the acute gastrointestinal haemorrhage rota as well as the general medical take, see details within job description. The acute take is reduced to recognise role on the bleed rota. For new substantive consultants the job plan for this post will initially include 2.5 SPAs.

Outside of the hospital, the area offers a great lifestyle with beautiful countryside from the stunning South Devon coastline with its sandy beaches and pebble coves to the rugged peaks of Dartmoor and the rolling South Hams. Schools in the area are excellent in both state and private sector, with a selective grammar school system.

Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register, or within six months of their expected date of receipt of their CCT at the time of interview.

For further information about this post please contact: Dr Mark Feeney (Clinical Lead - Gastroenterology) on 01803 654979.

To apply please complete the on-line application form, attaching a copy of your CV to your on-line application.
