Specialist Infection Prevention and Control Nurse - Care Homes North West Surrey Integrated Infection Prevention and Control Team

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a new, Integrated Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Team within North West Surrey (NWS).

The role of the Specialist Infection Prevention and Control Nurse will encompass community and system working across NWS, focusing on Care Homes across Surrey.

The post holder will establish new roles in three localities to develop infection control within 89 Care Homes in North West Surrey.

We are looking for three dynamic candidates with a high level of autonomy, who will not only challenge inappropriate practice, but also demonstrate clinical decision-making to assist in containing and reducing the incidence of infection through risk assessment, surveillance, audit, intervention and education.

You will have a proven track record in embedding quality improvement and patient safety, particularly in the care home environment.

The post holder will report into the Nurse Consultant in Infection Prevention and be part of an integrated team, to ensure care homes remain compliant with the Health and Social Care Act, 2015: Code of Practice on the Prevention and Control of Infections, and registered with no restrictions with the Care Quality Commission.

The post holder will be expected to work closely with the NWS Care Home Support Team and support the Lead Matron for care homes.

Who we're looking for:
  • NMC registered nurse
  • Experienced with the IP&C agenda and standards
  • IPC certificate
  • Experience of working in teams with minimum supervision
  • Experience of working within Care Homes
  • Competence across a broad range of skills, supported by professional and clinical knowledge acquired through state registration
