We have an exciting opportunity for an Pharmacy Operational Manager - Medicines Management and Education & Training to join our Pharmacy Department based at The London Clinic's main hospital in Central London, W1G 6BW, with a competitive salary range on offer.

We have approx. 1300 employees across 8 sites, where we cover a broad range of specialisms, including complex medical and surgical procedures and a comprehensive range of cancer and outpatient services.

Job Profile

As the Operational Manager-Medicines Management and Education & Training you will lead the development of wards based medicines management services at The London Clinic and participate in medicines management at ward level including drug history taking, PODs assessment, patient counselling, audit and supporting savings initiatives. You will also lead and support the Pharmacy Education and training strategy for support staff

  • Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week.
  • Shifts: 9am - 7.30pm, Monday to Sunday as per roster.

Key Duties
  • To work closely with the Clinical Pharmacists to review and improve the care of The London Clinic Patients through improved systems of medicines optimisation
  • To play a key role in the planning and implementation of future ward based Medicines Management Services
  • To work in partnership with Operational Managers for Dispensary, Distribution, Aseptics, Procurement and Revenue Capture to develop and push forward a training & development strategy for technician and ATOs
  • To promote a culture of learning through the facilitation of education and training for all grades of staff within the pharmacy department.
  • To lead on the management of pre-registration Pharmacy Technicians, and apprentice staff, delivering training programmes, ensuring safe working practices in line with standard operating procedures and hospital guidelines


Skills &Experience
  • Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical council of Great Britain
  • NVQ level 3 in Pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent
  • Proven consecutive 2 years post registration experience in a hospital pharmacy.
  • Experience of working in a supervisory capacity
  • ACT Accredited
  • Experience in medicine management
