What will the apprentice be doing?

The type of activity you can expect to be involved in day to day includes; campaign ideation and brainstorming, researching and engaging with key media contacts to outreach press releases, writing creative written content for a range of platforms, developing reports and analysing results and much more.

Key responsibilities

- Audience, data and topic research
- Compiling media lists
- News and competitor monitoring
- Outreach to press - including picking up the phone and speaking with the media
- Building relationships with journalists and the media in a range of industries
- Working to improve SEO performance and deliver regular high-quality backlinks by creating digital PR and outreach campaigns
- Maintaining active social media profiles
- Completing performance reports (PR and social media)

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

We will support you through a Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship (equivalent qualification to a Foundation degree) in Public Relations with the PRCA, which is the. You will be employed on an 18-month fixed-term contract, with the opportunity to turn into a permanent role.

Currently, this is being undertaken remotely. Learning is usually one day per week but might be staggered across the week to allow for online training sessions.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Following completion of the role, you will progress to a PR Executive role with the opportunity to further progress into a PR Manager as your experience develops.

There may also be the opportunity to focus on industry niches such as Digital PR. As a business, we are open to supporting our employees to develop into roles they aspire to.

Things to consider

You will be required to work both from the office and from home. The ability to write for a variety of media will be a crucial part of your day to day activity, therefore you must have a strong passion for the written word and enjoy writing content for a variety of media including social media, press releases, blogs and other channels.
