What will the apprentice be doing?

The role will see you involved in:
  • Supporting process development & validation projects in manufacturing.
  • Assisting with investigating of issues and implementing solutions.
  • Supporting continuous improvement of our site.
  • Providing technical knowledge & support to other teams on site.


We are looking for individuals who enjoy:
  • Understanding the details behind how and why things work.

  • Trying new things & when things go wrong, see it as a learning opportunity by critically analysing the situation & using tools & techniques to find the root cause of problems.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

This apprenticeship will give the apprentice a good grounding and understanding of the pharmaceutical industry from the development and formulation of drugs, to how drugs function in the body, to commercial manufacturing and laboratory testing. This foundation will open up options for the apprentice to pursue multiple careers within the pharma/manufacturing industry, for example a roles in the Technical or Quality department. The classroom learning will be supported by performing a job within the manufacturing technical team where the apprentice can put their learning into practice.

As part of this apprenticeship role, 20% of your time will be focused on studying towards a BSc (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Science which will be completed through virtual learning with the University of Greenwich on a 5-year, part time programme.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

This apprenticeship will give the foundation to be able to go into various career paths within the Pharmaceutical industry, while the role will give further focus on the manufacturing side of the industry.

Entry requirement of the degree course which requires 112 UCAS points from: • A-levels • An appropriate BTEC National award • A recognised Access to Science course • An appropriate Level 3 apprenticeship programme • Experience, incl. gained from voluntary activities. You will also need GCSE in English & maths at grade 4/C, or equivalent qual.
