About the apprenticeship

Duties

Role:
To assist a town centre solicitor in preparation of correspondence, notes and documents. To organise files and to manage calls and diary.
1. Audio dictation;
2. Typed preparation of:
a. file notes;
b. letters;
c. file invoices;
d. court documents (pleadings);
e. statements;
3. Telephone communication, appointments and messages;
4. Making telephone calls as instructed
5. Receiving calls and dealing with client matters personally / leaving messages
6. Posting mail out
7. Stamping mail in
8. Managing office diary - appointments, court dates, file dates, limitation dates
9. Office organisation open and close files with compliance procedure;
10. Compliance filing system - open, diarise, closure;
11. Banking of client payments;
12. Completing receipt and dispatch of office mail;
13. Use of Microsoft office (word, excel, outlook)

Additional information

This job is a 25 hours per week role.
Office Procedure
The post requires and will provide familiarity with office procedures:-
File structure and location;
Structure of correspondence;
Structure of File notes;
Filing of papers;
Preparation of original documents;
Mail process;

Office Equipment
The post requires and will provide familiarity with office equipment such as:-
Printers;
Copiers;
Scanners;
Laminators;
Comb & Thermal Binders etc.

Skills

• An interest in the civil legal work of Lancasters Solicitors
• Good English language skills
• Good spelling, punctuation and grammar
• Good computer skills
• Well presented
• Ability to listed to open an audio file and type the dictation / carry out the task
• Good organisational skill
• Good organisational skills
• Able to type
• Good communication skills - face-face/telephone
• Able to use initiative when required
• Discreet and able to maintain client confidence

• Keen to help and strive for best - personal goals
Experience:
Experience of Word, Excel & Outlook necessary;
Good English Language Skills necessary
Office experience preferred but not necessary as training will be provided.

Professional demeanour and etiquette in dealing with client, courts and various institutions will be required.

Qualifications

4 GCSEs (A*-C), NVQ Level 2 or equivalent
