We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to work on our rehabilitation wards at Alderney Hospital.

This is a full-time position, 37.50 hours, part-time hours would be considered. Weekend working on a rota basis will be required for full and part time roles.

There are two wards at Alderney, and the successful candidate would be expected to work across both wards. You would be part of a vibrant, friendly and supportive multi-disciplinary team, of OTs Physiotherapists, Therapy Assistants, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, and Doctors. We deliver a therapy service which truly places the patient at the centre of our decision making and strives to deliver the highest quality of evidence-based rehabilitation to our patients.

Our patients will have experienced a life event, which will have rendered them off their baseline in respect of their functional capabilities. This may be a traumatic fracture, an illness, or a period of 'not coping' at home which may have resulted in a fall. Our aim is to assess their current function against their baseline function, understand how home was for them before they came to hospital, aim to get them back to their baseline if possible, if not possible to recommend the level of care and/or equipment they will require in order to function safely at home.

The successful candidate would be supported through supervision, PDR, in-service training and external courses as appropriate, to support their continuous professional development.

You will be an excellent communicator, able to maintain good working relationships, used to supervising junior members of staff and delegating work to them.

You will be proficient in risk management, respect our patients' right to make unwise decisions and be careful to fully understand a patient's capacity before finalising discharge plans.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The DBS levies a charge of £40 and the Trust will recover this cost in instalments from your first 3 salary payments.

Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service and are able to present a valid DBS certificate will not incur a charge.

We are looking forward to working with you!
