Pre-registration trainee pharmacy technician Apprentices

We are the largest provider of acute hospital services in Surrey, serving a population of more than 410,000 people in the boroughs of Runnymede, Spelthorne, Woking and parts of Elmbridge, Hounslow, Surrey Heath and beyond.

The Trust provides a whole range of services across its two main hospital sites in Surrey - Ashford Hospital, and St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey and supported by specialist clinics in the community.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for TWO Apprentice Pre-registration trainee pharmacy technicians within our friendly department at Ashford & St Peters NHS Foundation Trust.

If you have the ability to work using your own initiative, have good communication skills and can provide a high quality service to our patients this is the job for you!

We are looking for individuals with a passion to learn and develop, that are able to work under pressure whilst ensuring a high level of accuracy.

The successful candidates will work in the department on a rotational basis through Dispensary, Distribution, Procurement and wards.

Our department is committed to Education and Training and you will be encouraged to develop your skills in all aspects of hospital pharmacy practice in our busy department and provide support to others in training.

You will be supported to do the BTEC Level 3 Integrated Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians on a one day a week basis through a college via virtual lessons.

Progression to year 2 of the course is dependent on successful completion of all assessments in year one.

Individuals will need to be highly organised and self-motivated and be capable of meeting multiple deadlines. You must be able to plan your own studies at home and be able to complete the qualification punctually. A significant amount of study must be completed in your own time and you should expect to allocate 10 hours or more each week to this.

You can expect to be involved in all aspects of dispensary duties.

Course entry criteria (Apprenticeship funding rules apply):
    • Applicants should hold 4 GCSE's (or proven equivalent) at grade A*- C / 9-4 to include Mathematics, English Language and two relevant Science subjects or a Double Science .
    • Learners must live and work in England and have been a resident in the EU for a minimum of 3 years
    • Learners must be aged 16 years old or above
    • Learners cannot hold a Level 4 qualification or above, unless the qualification is "materially different" from the Apprenticeship in Pharmacy framework. Any qualifications relating to level 3 and above in pharmacy, nursing or biomedical sciences will have to be assessed in depth for funding eligibility

Where to find us:

Our main sites are Ashford Hospital, TW15 3AA near to Heathrow Airport and St Peter's Hospital, KT16 0RQ which is close to junction 11, M25. We also operate services at Woking Bradley Unit and Milford Hospital. A free shuttle bus service operates between Ashford & St Peter's Hospitals.
