Base:Cygnet Acer Clinic Upper Ward (Female Acute)

Responsible for:The post holder will provide OT input into the newly established acute ward. The ward has their own designated OT and Activity Co-ordinator.

Responsible to:Specialist OT (Band 6) on site at Cygnet Acer Clinic

Hours:40 hours per week

Overview of site/Ward:

Cygnet Acer Clinic upper ward is our new 14 bed mental health facility for women with complex mental health needs.

Upper Ward is our new mental health acute service for women with complex mental health needs. The service at Upper Ward provides a comprehensive range of treatment for women aged between 18 and above, who require treatment in an inpatient setting.

The ethos of this service is to assess and treat service users in a minimally restrictive environment and to plan for discharge in a robust and timely fashion.

Our experienced multi-disciplinary team works collaboratively with service users, carers, commissioners and the home team to provide a safe, effective and responsive treatment pathway that is co-produced and recovery orientated.

The care pathway of 28 days aims to ensure a short length of stay and safe return to the community, where possible.

As an Occupational Therapist, you will assess a patient's level of functional ability following an acute episode of mental health. Underpinned by the Model of Human Occupation theory, OT will support patients through the use of meaningful occupations towards recovery and make recommendations around discharge based on the patient's needs. Additionally, you will provide robust, evidence based short term individual and group interventions.

  • The Successful Candidate should be/have:
    • A registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council)
    • Willing to consolidate and develop clinical skills
    • An understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and can take a "hands on" approach
    • Excellent communication and time management skills
    • Passionate about advocating the role of OT.

    Requirements

    The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS and reference check and an offer of employment will be subject to successful clearance.
