About the apprenticeship

Duties

Plas Pawb Nursery is based in Caernarfon and offers quality care and education for children from three months of age up to school age children.
There is a Baby room, an older children's room and an after school club within the nursery. Full or half time places are offered along with a term time childcare scheme only.
The nursery is also registered to provide Flying Start childcare places. The nursery plays a key role within the Plas Pawb Integrated Centre to offer a range of services to families in the area. When offering care to children it is possible to offer opportunities for parents / carers to attend sessions and courses on site through the service of the Family Support team, Families First and the Flying Start scheme.

Some of the posts main duties:
• To contribute to the planning and implementation of appropriate programmes of activity for the children in collaboration with the Nursery staff
• To have a full understanding of the Nursery's system of record-keeping and to contribute to the observation and recording of individual children's development using the key worker system.
• To ensure that the areas of play, whether indoors or out, are safe, happy and caring environments which encourage the children to play freely.
• To assist in the provision of a high quality service which meets the needs of all children attending the nursery, ensuring due consideration is given to nationality, culture, race, religion, language and disability.

Additional information

• The job is based at Plas Pawb - Maesincla, Caernarfon.
• The successful apprentice will be required to demonstrate the ability to communicate bilingually from the outset. We are prepared to consider applications from Welsh speakers who may not meet the above requirements immediately, but are willing to commit to reaching them.

Qualifications

Qualified to at least Level 2 meeting the following requirements:
Either
• 4 GCSEs grade D or above
• Corresponding Level 2 vocational qualification (e.g. BTEC First Level 2 Diploma Merit or above)

For your information, any combinatinon of qualifications with an equivalent grade will be acceptable.
