Our vision is to deliver excellent local services which improve the health of our communities. To do this we need outstanding people who share our values (CARE). CARE stands for:
  • Compassionate
  • Aspirational
  • Responsive
  • Excellent

Are you caring, compassionate, motivated and interested in developing your career within the health service? Then this may be the opportunity for you!

Join us at Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust (KCHFT), train to become a qualified Occupational Therapist and gain a BSc Hons degree in Occupational Therapy whilst you work. We are recruiting across East and West Kent in the following areas;

Maidstone /Tonbridge area
Dartford
Canterbury

Please advise us of your preferred geographical location in your application statement.

The Occupational Therapy Apprenticeship is a new and innovative route to 'Learn while you Earn' and combines 4 years of clinical employment, work based learning, and academic learning.

You will be employed as an Apprentice Occupational Therapist at Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust (KCHFT). You will work as part of a therapy team within a range of settings and be provided with dedicated time to study for a Bachelor's degree in Occupational therapy in conjunction with Canterbury Christchurch University.

To be considered, you will need a GCSE qualification in English and Maths grade C/level 5 or above or a level 2 functional skills qualification in English and Maths. In addition, we are looking for candidates who hold 3 'A' Levels or who have successfuly completed an Access course or an equivalent level 3 qualification.

We would also like to see evidence of your understanding of the OT role.

Please ensure that you meet these minimum entry requirements before you apply, as applications that do not meet these criteria will not be progressed.

During the apprenticeship you will develop skills and knowledge that will allow you to work in today's dynamic and changing healthcare environment. Whilst you will be based in one specific team, your placements will give you a variety of learning environments working across both internal and external clinical placements to gain an appreciation of the different areas of the local healthcare service. As many of our bases are away from public transport routes, it is a requirement of the role that you are able to drive and have access to a car (subject to the provisions of the Equality Act 2010).

As an employee of KCHFT you will demonstrate our values, and once you have completed all the requirements for registration as a qualified Occupational therapist, you will become a Band 5 Occupational Therapist within the Trust.

The deadline for applications will be midnight on Thursday 13th May

Interviews will be held on Tuesday 25th May
