About the apprenticeship

Duties

Under the guidance and supervision of suitably trained staff, the apprentice will develop skills and abilities in, and assist the various departments with:

Attending and taking part in regular team meetings and regular reviews with line manage etc

To work in a professional manner and portray a positive image of the council in the workplace.

Learning and developing skills in a highway environment.

Developing and applying bricklaying skills to masonry work, kerb laying, laying paving, drainage works and other highway related work.

Working as directed by the Streetcare Team Leader (Highways) for daily operations.

Undertaking training in the use of plant and equipment such as cement mixers, kerb saws, rollers, plate compactors, etc.

Undertaking training relating to safety on the highway.
