Job Details
Duties
Under the guidance and supervision of suitably trained staff, the apprentice will develop skills and abilities in, and assist the various departments with:
Attending and taking part in regular team meetings and regular reviews with line manage etc.
Supporting the Council Business Unit with the introduction of the webcasting system to oversee the day to day running of the webcasting system including the setting up of meetings.
Assisting the Unit by offering technical support relating to webcasting issues for Elected Members before during and after (evening) meetings where appropriate.
Liaising with the webcasting provider to ensure future developments relating to the webcasting system are implemented.
Assisting the Council Business Unit with the development of the Elected Member's portal which is a dedicated section of the Council website specific for Elected Member use.
Assisting with the creation and updating of e-learning modules and review of these pages to ensure the modules remain current and relevant.
Supporting the Council Business Unit by updating and maintaining the Modern. Gov system, providing ongoing technical support with demonstrations to Elected Members of the new App.
Promoting the Modern.Gov system within the Council by attending network meetings (in conjunction with the relevant Council Officer) to share best practice and ensure the most up-to-date information is applied to the Council Modern.Gov system.

Depending on government guidelines in place at the time, interviews will be conducted either remotely or in person. Following the government's latest social distancing measures, we are working to keep disruption of recruitment to a minimum. If you are invited to a remote interview it will be using ‘Teams' which you'll access via a link in an email invitation.

Who can apply?
To be eligible to apply you:
- will be at least 16 years of age at the time of making your application
- will not be in full-time education (you can apply while still attending school/college/university but will have finished or intend to finish your studies by the time your apprenticeship starts)
- will need to meet the Civil Service Nationality requirements to apply.
ALS eligibility
Please note that ALS our training providers have their own eligibility in order to provide the funding required to undertake an apprenticeship. You may not be eligible to apply if:
- you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in ICT, Software, Web and Telecoms or a similar subject
- you already hold a qualification at Level 3 or above in Business Administration, Customer Service or a similar subject
What are the benefits?
How much will I be paid?
You will earn £19,240 a year while training. When you pass your apprenticeship you can apply for a permanent job at the Welsh Government. Within 2 years of starting your apprenticeship you could be earning £22,500.
You will get 31 days holidays as well as 10 public and privilege days. We offer flexible working arrangements to help you get the right work/life balance. You will also be eligible for membership of the Civil Service Pension Scheme
