University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is a newly formed organisation following a merger between Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WSHFT) and Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Trust (BSUH) on 1st April 2021. WSHFT and BSUH have been working in partnership with a shared leadership team for four years leading up to the recent merger. The merger was a technical but important process for both WSHFT and BSUH which will ensure that the right leadership, structures, and governance are in place. We have a great opportunity for a talented pharmacist to join the

Worthing pharmacy department part of the newly formed University Hospital Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to lead their Aseptic Services team.

This successful post holder will act as the Accountable and Authorised Pharmacist for all work carried out under section 10 of the Medicines Act within the site-specific Pharmacy Aseptic Unit at Worthing Hospital.

The chemotherapy production units at our legacy Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides around 2000 chemotherapy doses to patients at Worthing and St Richard's Hospitals per month. They have 2 busy units, led by a great pharmacy team who provide a safe, efficient and effective service to Cancer Services and other teams within the Trust. Managing the balance between day unit and homecare services will make a huge impact on the service providing a better service to patients while maintaining the capacity through any further surge in chemotherapy.

Our Aseptics team comprises of Pharmacists, technicians, assistants and apprentices providing a chemotherapy, monoclonal antibody and immunotherapy to patients in West Sussex. As part of this team, you will be able to work with a variety of people providing an outstanding service to the Trust ensuring prompt and efficient production and supply of chemotherapy. This is a really exciting opportunity to be part of our new journey to shape the development of the service in Worthing Hospital and alongside our team at our other legacy Trust Brighton and Sussex University Hospital Trust, be involved with improvements across the whole of Sussex for cancer patients. The successful post holder must hold a Master of Pharmacy degree or equivalent and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

They must have recent experience supporting the running of Aseptic services and understand the complexities of delivering a pharmacy cancer service across the Trust. They will also have excellent organisational, analytical and communications skills.
