Castlet Ltd are a successful electrical / electronic SME engineering company and have been in business since the mid 1970's. Through continued R&D, acquisitions and investment in our people, we are involved in a wide range of industries. These include: Air pollution control and providing world leading microprocessor controls and high voltage power supplies. These products are exported to over 70 countries worldwide:
  • Defence / Aerospace products for current fighter aircraft (including Typhoon Eurofighter and F35 Lighting)
  • Marine power applications
  • Materials handling systems
  • Battery chargers and capacity testers

We continue to develop new markets / products to maintain our lead in industry and have a long term strategy of developing multi skilled technicians and engineers, through apprenticeship schemes.

Over the time of the apprenticeship, we focus on ascertaining the aptitudes of trainees to develop specific areas of excellence and productivity. Initial experience will be gained in some or all of the following disciplines.
  • Assembly and wiring of electrical control panels (control and power)
  • Assembly for electro / mechanical assemblies (electronic / low power)
  • Inspection, test (electronic) test (electrical), fault finding and rectification
  • Engineering - design and CAD technical drawing, generation of bills of materials and other documentation, software programming of products
  • To also give apprentices an all round business knowledge, time will be allocated to gain experience also in the following areas:
  • Commercial - Export and import, procurement, project work, communications
  • Logistics - materials control and stores and stock control

Desired qualifications

A minimum of 48 UCAS Tariff points from the following: A and AS Levels in relevant subjects, with at least one subject at A Level. BTEC National (Diploma or Extended Diploma) in a relevant subject.

Access to HE Scottish Higher / Advanced Higher with at least one subject at Advanced Higher. For mature applicants some experience may be taken in lieu of A Levels / BTECs. Plus, GCSE English - grade C/4 or above GCSE Maths - grade C/4 or above (Level 2 Functional skills is not taken as an equivalent) and a technical subject EU and International applicants NARIC confirmed equivalent of 48 UCAS points.

Future prospects

Employment and progression within the organisation may be possible upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship.
