Rochdale Development Agency (RDA), acting on behalf of Rochdale Borough Council is responsible for promoting the economic well-being of Rochdale Borough. The RDA works in partnership with the Council, the private Sector and other stakeholders to deliver new economic investment, physical development and associated jobs for the benefit of the local community.
As part of our ambitious plans to regenerate the Borough there is a strong focus on retaining and
enhancing the exceptional range of heritage assets that the Borough has and which provide the Borough with its unique character, including 5 Grade I and 21 Grade II* buildings .
The Council is undertaking an ambitious restoration of its Grade I listed Town Hall, which has been successful in attracting National Lottery Heritage Funding.
The purpose of this apprenticeship is to support the Town Hall team in delivering the final stages of the project whilst gaining working knowledge of the project management process and associated activities whilst completing the Associate Project Management Higher Apprenticeship course at University of Salford.
The successful candidate will be supported by the Senior Project Officer to make an application for the course between June and July 21. The course will begin in September 21.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES
A: Project Management
  • Provide project administration for the Town Hall project including managing project documentation and updating of key project management documents such as monthly reports, programme and risk registers
  • Monitoring and reporting project finances
  • Supporting and writing grant applications
  • Delivery of bespoke projects and work packages
  • Co-ordination of meetings and taking of minutes
  • Support the new Activity Planning team throughout the delivery period of the town hall project until opening

B: Communication
  • To assist in the development of project plans
  • To assist in active engagement with the local community to build support for the ambitions of the Town Hall project
  • To assist in the development and delivery of stakeholder engagement plans for the Town Hall project, including partners, property owners, businesses, residents, investors and volunteers
  • To assist in the development and delivery in partnership with the Council's Communications Team of communications plans for the Town Hall project
  • Effectively communicate relevant project information to the Town Hall project team and senior management team when required
  • Support the delivery of engaging, informative, well-organised presentations
  • Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion

C: Team Working
  • Work as part of a team defining project scope, goals and deliverables that support business objectives in collaboration with the Town Hall project team, senior management, partners and stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change
  • Contribute to the process of innovative change effectively

D: Client Management
  • Effectively manage a day to day client/partner interaction

E: General Requirements
  • Continue to seek improvement of professional skills
  • To undertake other duties as required by the Chief Executive, Operations Director or Programme Manager in general conformity with the foregoing

Desired qualifications

To meet the criteria to apply for the Associate Project Management Course at the University of Salford you must have one of the following:
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • 64 UCAS Tariff points (indicatively CC with a minimum of two A2 passes)
  • MPP for BTEC National Extended Diploma


Equivalent qualifications will also be considered please contact University of Salford for further information.
GCSE- minimum five grades A-C with Grade C or above at GCSE in both Mathematics and English. Functional Skills Level 2 also accepted.
