Full-time Data Analyst apprenticeship with Activate Learning, based at our Oxford campus and training received at our Reading campus. You will be supporting our Institutional Effectiveness Team to specialise in reporting and data support for the 24-month apprenticeship.

Outline of day to day duties:
  • Providing first line support and triaging of all service desk requests, phone calls and emails
  • Troubleshoot user queries and resolve, provide advice and training or identify defects in systems and reports to be escalated
  • Perform routine maintenance or enhancements to T-SQL queries using guidance of the wider team where required
  • Ensure close and effective liaison with users to provide appropriate support and training where necessary
  • Assist in producing consistently excellent technical and user/training documentation for all systems developed in house
  • Participate in testing of systems and reports for accuracy of functionality and data input before dissemination
  • Recommend changes and modifications to reporting and data collection systems based on user feedback and issues as required
  • Maximise the benefit and potential of all Activate Learning systems
  • Develop excellent relationships with Analysts across the team to ensure consistency and efficiency to maximise the benefits of the function

  • Experience of the further education system
  • Experience of using reporting solutions and data collection tools
  • Experience of producing good quality written documentation adapted to suit a wide range of audiences
  • Experience of providing first line support to users
  • Awareness of software development cycles and how they apply to a project
  • Awareness of data structures, database systems and procedures
  • Experience of working with a range of MIS (ideally student records) systems
  • Experience of using Power BI
  • Ability to construct and troubleshoot simple T-SQL queries
  • Exposure to .NET technologies

  • Understanding of how data can be used to inform decisions and improve services.

Desired qualifications

  • Educated to A Level or equivalent experience, ideally in a subject including Information Systems
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in maths grade 4/C or above
