Quality Technician Apprentice:

This job is a key role in supporting metal pressing & assembly production processes and ensuring that our customers receive parts and products to their expected quality standards.

Key Methodologies: Approval of Production

The Quality Technician Apprentice will approve production processes as OK to start/continue production, by carrying out First-Off inspections and measurements, and then approve parts to be released for sale at the end of production following Last-Off inspections and measurements.

Key Methodologies: Problem Solving

When there are issues with production, the Quality Technician Apprentice will be involved in helping identify what has gone wrong and putting in place corrective actions; this will often include participation in the creation of modification to gauge and control designs. Problem solving activities will involve teamworking throughout Clamason, and when required, the Quality Technician Apprentice will need to contact and sometimes participate in visits to suppliers

Key Methodologies: Documentation and Records

The Quality Technician apprentice will be involved in the creation, maintenance and update of the key documentation required to ensure the steps required to correctly product parts are followed, these include Control Plans, Work-Instructions, and Measurement data records and reports


During your apprenticeship you will receive training in the use of Engineering Measurement Equipment, ranging from hand held devices (e.g. micrometers) through to computer controlled Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM), and also the calibration of these devices.

As your experience and skills evolve, additional training will be provided in the Industry Standard Core Quality Tools:
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
  • Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Measurements Systems Analysis (MSA)
  • Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)

  • Essential: Candidates must have already achieved a Level 3 Engineering Qualification or be on courseto achieve a Level 3 Engineering Qualification by the end of this academic year
