About the environment

HMP Berwyn is a modern, category C closed prison for men with a capacity of 2106. We aim to deliver quality of life services and support people to change their lives for the better.

Providing quality healthcare services to those in Custody means ensuring respect and wellbeing is at the heart of our approach.

Nursing in prison is never dull or predictable. On any given day the skills you use may be similar to those you need working in A&E, alternatively you may be supporting people to manage their mental health or substance misuse.

You'll carry out - and potentially develop - nurse-led clinics, reviewing patient histories, undertaking relevant examinations and tests, organising any necessary treatment and referring patients to other healthcare professionals when you need to.

There are three residential units on site, within each of which up to 750 men reside. There is a health and wellbeing centre, college, gym, library, workshop complex, visits hall, chaplaincy and kitchen.
