Are you a qualified pharmacy assistant looking for a career in hospital pharmacy? Do you have an interest in working on in-patient wards alongside patients, nurses and pharmacy staff?

This post offers an exciting and unique opportunity for a pharmacy assistant to have a varied role on the wards, as well as supporting the busy hospital dispensary.

The post holder will have a patient facing role in the Medicine, Rehabilitation and Cardiothoracic Divisional Team, working alongside the specialist pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy apprentices. You will respond to enquiries and requests from staff, patients and carers, and ensure appropriate and accurate information is readily available. You will be expected to escalate questions and problems to other members of the pharmacy team when needed. You will need to form good working relationships with staff from all the different groups within the MRC team, and work in collaboration with your colleagues.

You will need to be highly motivated, with a positive outlook and excellent communication skills. Attention to detail and ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team are essential.

You must have experience of working as a qualified Pharmacy Assistant, using computer systems for dispensing and stock control, and be well organised.

This post would suit somebody with either a hospital pharmacy background, or with community pharmacy experience wishing to make a change into the hospital environment, for which appropriate training will be provided. You must have successfully achieved the relevant units of pharmacy services skills NVQ level 2 (QCF) or an equivalent training programme.
