Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit was completed in 2018, extension of a Neonatal Unit and an approved plan to build a brand new, state of the art Emergency Department which will commence in 2021

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community healthcare in the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents, employing more than 4,000 staff with a combined total income of just over £220m. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services with 550 acute beds.

Over the last 12 months more than £50m has been invested in healthcare services across the hospital's estate which includes two new, state-of-the-art MRI scanners, the creation of a new 22 bedded Intensive Care Unit and a new Obstetric Theatre and expansion of the Neonatal Unit.

This is an exciting time to be joining the Trust with the development of a £36m brand new Emergency Department and 37-bed Acute Medical Unit (AMU) co-located with Ambulatory Emergency Care and our Frailty service (due to open 2022). We have pushed boundaries and developed a building with a state-of-the-art design and flow with many other co-located services including an Urgent Treatment Centre

With the Trust's ambition to achieve a CQC rating of Outstanding by 2022, we are achieving some great results. We have recently been ranked 2nd in the country for achieving DMO1 diagnostics standard within 6 weeks, 14th ranking for ED achieving the national 4 hour Emergency Access standard and 3rd in the Region, and 1st for the best ambulance handover in the region within the last two months, these are the Trust's highest ever rankings. Applications are invited for two substantive full time Specialty Doctor posts in Respiratory Medicine to commence as soon as possible.

The Respiratory Medical Team at Walsall Manor Hospital is going through an exciting period of growth as we develop our services for the future. To help us achieve this with the highest standards of innovation and excellence in front-of-house clinical care, we are looking to expand our core team of Medicine specialists. So if you are passionate about improving services and have the skills and commitment then we would love to hear from you about the positive contribution you could make to our team.

The two speciality doctor posts are for 10 Programmed Activities (7.5PAs direct clinical care and 2.5PAs supporting professional activities) with an expectation to partake on a 1:13 on call GIM rota.

The Roles will be to work within the Respiratory team at a trust speciality doctor level to provide support on the ward, ward referrals, undertake outpatient clinics and be involved with Bronchoscopy and also the added benefit of the opportunity to be involved with EBUS procedures. The Respiratory team are keen to support professional development with specific training and development.

These roles will be to work with a cohesive and enthusiastic team of 4 consultants, 7 specialist nurses with the expansion of further staff pending a Respiratory business case submission.

The successful candidate must possess full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice, a Basic Medical qualification (eg MBBS or equivalent MRCP Part 1: Full MRCP or equivalent

ALS (Adult Life Support) within last 3 years, Completion of at least 4 years full-time postgraduate training (or pro-rata if undertaken on a flexible/part time basis) of which two years or more must be in a specialty training or fixed term programme in Respiratory
