Join the team at RhodesWood Hospital providing care for children and young people aged 8-18 years with eating disorders or with learning disabilities who require residential care, working on tailored treatment programmes designed for the individual needs of each young person

As a Dietician, you will manage a caseload where you will provide dietetic management, assessment, diagnosis, treatment programmes to individual service users and will be requested to design and deliver training.

You will know one or two things about healthy living as you promote recovery and will liaise with the wider community of dieticians and GPS where you will agree, monitor and implement service users clinical nutrition and diet health plans.

You will provide advice, guidance and information to your peers, service users and their family as you support them through their recovery journey, including nutritional requirements and menu planning with the catering department.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be supported regionally and will have access to a variety of training and online courses to support your career development and growth.

Your responsibilities:
  • To assess young peoples' weight and advise regarding calories for the multi-disciplinary team
  • To conduct pre-admission screenings for new referrals while laying out the plan of future intervention
  • Liaise with Specialist Eating Disorder dietetic colleagues working in other areas of the eating disorder pathway within Elysium Healthcare and its partners.
  • To liaise closely with colleagues across a range of care teams to provide timely, accurate, and effective treatment, supporting non-specialist colleagues in carrying out direct work themselves wherever this is appropriate.
  • To liaise with the hospital's catering department and ensure that the menu is reviewed regularly, the allergen list, portion sizes, and special menus are up to date

To be successful in this role, you'll need

  • Qualification in Dietetics and registration with HCPC and BDA
  • Evidence of previous and ongoing commitment to continuous professional development
  • Post-qualifying experience of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties
  • Knowledge and understanding of Eating Disorders in children and young people, and their impact on both the client group and their families/carers
  • Excellent assessment skills with this client group, including risk assessment and management.
