Level 3 Business & Administration Apprenticeship

The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust is offering an exciting opportunity to join an Apprenticeship Scheme. This provides a role which is an initial 18-24 month training programme enabling the development of knowledge, skills and the achievement of a nationally recognised qualification. The position will cover all Trust sites: Pinderfields Hospital, Pontefract Hospital, Dewsbury Hospital, and the wider Community.

The role will be ward based, working in our new Surgical Same Day Emergency Care (SSDEC) unit and will work on a rota over 7 days. The successful candidate will help support our adult patients who arrive for assessment and/or treatment of their surgical complaint. They will support the nursing and clinical team by ensuring that patients move through the system as efficiently as possible and are only in the hospital when essential for their care. This will involve booking patients in, recording clinical activity on the Trust's system, making future bookings and liaising with support services to ensure the patient receives the majority of their care during the one hospital visit.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated outgoing person. The successful applicant would need to demonstrate great caring, communication and teamwork skills plus confidence and professionalism using the phone. All these skills will also be developed further as part of the apprenticeship programme. Subject to successful achievement of the apprenticeship the successful applicant will have the skills and knowledge required to apply for the available vacant substantive position.

This attracts an initial salary of £15,857. All course fees will be paid for by the Trust. The apprentice will achieve a level 3 Apprenticeship in Business Administration plus Functional Skills in Maths and English (4-9 or A-C if not already held).

This is initially a fixed term contract for 18-24 months until the apprenticeship is successfully completed, with set milestones to be met. Only on successful achievement of the Apprenticeship and adherence to all Trust policies and procedures including The Mid Yorkshire Values & Behaviours, a permanent, substantive vacancy will be available to move into for the right person.

Applicants must be eligible and willing to undertake a Level 3 Apprenticeship and hold GCSE Grade 3-9 in English Language and Maths or equivalent qualifications.

There is an eligibility criteria for government funded apprenticeships which requires the applicant to be aged 16+, be a resident in the UK/EU for the last three years. Applicants cannot have achieved a qualification at level 3 or above in the same pathway as this will exempt them from being able to undertake the apprenticeship.
