A market-leading manufacturer and distributor of electrical products is looking for a confident and organised Graduate Trainee Buyer to join their successful team in Luton. You'll be contributing to the continuous improvement of the purchasing function, taking a proactive role in managing the company's supplier and cost base, driving new product development and resourcing activity, and contributing to key commercial decisions.

Role Responsibilities

The business you'll be joining is one of the largest suppliers of electrical accessories and exports to Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Caribbean. They are part of a major UK group of specialist distributors who have an impressive turnover exceeding GBP900 million and a proven track record of developing graduate talent.

As a Graduate Trainee Buyer, you will:

Receive comprehensive training in all areas of the Buying department
Contribute to the day to day commercial management of the supplier base including negotiating terms and contracts
Project manage new product introductions and resourcing activities, defining the critical path, working closely with colleagues in the marketing, technical and inventory control teams to ensure key milestones and deliverables are met
Prepare for supplier meetings, trade shows and business trips, communicating actions as agreed and managing these through to completion
Support the inventory control team with resolution of supply chain issues
Work closely with the technical team in resolving product quality issues and achieving acceptable commercial resolution
Support the commercial and sales teams with new business tenders and promotional activitiesRewards Package

As a Graduate Trainee Buyer, you'll receive:

A starting salary between GBP20,000 - GBP24,000
Your share of the company's profits in the form of an annual bonus

Opportunity to complete a CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply) qualificationRequirements

To be successful in this role, you should be:

Educated to degree level in a relevant business discipline (e.g. Logistics, Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Studies, Management, Finance)
Highly organised with strong project management and problem-solving skills
Able to work well in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills
Persuasive with the ability to influence and convince others to achieve required results
Analytical with attention to detail and strong Excel skills
