Employer description:

Talking Business ltd have been established for 30 years and have built up a small client based over this time. Whilst generally they are around the local area (Thames Valley and West London) we do have customers with sites around the UK.

Talking Business are wholly focused on offering our clients a great and individually tailored service, at a very competitive price. Our main aim as a business is to build long-term relationships with our clients, and as a result have managed to retain most of our clients for a number of years now.

Main responsibilities:

  • Answering calls from clients (business only, we don’t serve residential/consumer customers).
  • Raising tickets on our online ticketing system, and performing first line checks and troubleshooting with clients on network, telephony and broadband issues.
  • Not every day, but attending sites (once trained) to configure new networks for clients (generally always in London). Setting them up with their router/internet, telephones and often switches as well. Configuration of LAN/WAN details and setting up remote access etc. as well as any required security features
  • Learning and assisting with provisioning of new services using our online portals (ordering SIP, FTTC, ADSL, FTTP, dedicated Fibre circuits, and Openreach WLR services such as analogue and ISDN).
  • Monitoring and having ownership of their own orders/workflow, this would be once trained. So that for example, the chosen candidate might have 5-15 provisioning orders they are managing during the working week, and day to day ensuring the provisioning of these orders is going ahead smoothly.
  • Assisting clients remotely and at site at times, with faults on their service/s. Generally, problems with broadband, routers and VoIP telephones.
  • Assisting clients on remote portals, in configuring new users and settings on VoIP (auto attendants, queues, users, call recording etc.)

Desirable skills:

  • Excellent eye/attention for detail.
  • Local to us (Iver, Uxbridge, Maidenhead, Langley Windsor etc.) would help as it’s less travel for them.

  • Driving mandatory – due to site visits and travelling

Personal qualities:

  • A passion and interest in technology (WAN/LAN, VoIP telephones, networks etc.)
  • Ability to use initiative, and take ownership of their workload.

Desired qualifications:

  • A-Levels in ICT/Computing
  • Or an Apprenticeship in a similar subject (this must be at least the level below the planned programme)
  • Or an International Baccalaureate at level 3 in ICT

Working week:

8:30am to 5:30pm, 5 days a week.

  • We have dress down on Fridays.
  • We are a small, but growing company so there is room to progress as we grow, for the right candidate.
  • We always try and have a nice Christmas party where we go out for a meal and some drinks etc., and at times during the year we all go out for lunches etc.
  • Room for the candidate to provide ideas on how to improve tech/support processes for the company, as we are a growing company.

Future prospects:

  • Progression within the company.
