The apprentice will be working on a range of projects. The projects will relate to the university projects that will be undertaken as part of the programme set by London South Bank University.

Key tasks will include:
  • Assisting the team with planning admin tasks
  • Assisting the team with planning appraisals
  • Assisting the team with the submission of planning applications
  • Undertaking initial research for existing and new sites
  • Review of planning history
  • Review of planning policy where required
  • Assisting the team with retail studies

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

Training will be provided as part of the apprenticeship; however, the following skills are desirable but not essential:
  • Microsoft word
  • Microsoft excel

Personal qualities

  • Team player
  • Willing to learn
  • Motivated

Desired qualifications

  • A Level BCC
  • BTEC National Diploma MMM
  • Access to HE qualifications with 9 Distinctions and 36 Merits or
  • Equivalent Level 3 qualifications worth 106 UCAS points or
  • Level 3 Planning Technician Apprenticeship
  • Applicants must hold 5 GCSEs A-C including maths and English, or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above)

Equivalent qualifications to those listed may also be accepted.

Following successful completion of the apprenticeship scheme Nexus Planning will discuss the opportunity for further career progression.

Things to consider

Nexus Planning will cover the cost of travel to London South Bank University. Study days will also be provided and discussed.
