** 14 month Fixed Term Contract - Apprenticeship **

We welcome applications from individuals wishing to become an Apprentice and gain experience in the NHS. You will develop new skills and knowledge whilst working with an established team gaining valuable work experience and a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

You will be enrolled with a local education provider and will be required to complete your Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship Programme within the duration of the placement.

This opportunity will be based on Langley Ward which is a specialty Renal ward, providing inpatient care for 26 patients, plus provision of an Acute Dialysis Service providing treatment for up to 10 patients at a time with acute and chronic kidney injuries.

Eligibility Criteria:

All applicants must be:
  • Aged 16+
  • Resident in the UK/EEA for the last three years
  • Must not have a Degree, Level 4 qualification or above
  • Must NOT be in any form of formal government-funded education

Qualifications and Skills Required:
  • Good general standard of education
  • 4 GCSE's at Grade D/3 or above (or equivalent)
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good IT skills

The Apprentice will work under close supervision and will be expected to achieve competencies over a 14 month period to build a portfolio of evidence for apprenticeship accreditation. Under direction of the nursing team you will be expected to work with all members of the multidisciplinary team, to contribute to the provision of the highest standards of patient care. You will accurately and promptly carry out instructions of the registered nurse who is professionally accountable for delivery of care. Core duties are specified within the Trusts Approved core list for Healthcare assistants.

To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH's 'PRIDE' values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence.

Full time: 37.5 hours per week. As an integral part of the ward team you will be required to work weekends and Bank Holidays, however there will be no night shifts involved with this role.

UK Registration: You will need to have current UK professional registration where this is a requirement of the role.
