Digital Tech Consultant Apprenticeship

Discover how to get a degree without going to university as a digital tech consultant apprentice

Join us as a digital tech consultant apprentice and learn how to solve real world problems with innovative digital solutions. Our Level 6 Digital & Technology Solutions Degree Apprenticeship (IT Consultant) will give you the digital, collaboration and business skills you need for the future of work. This is your opportunity to obtain a BSc Degree in Digital & Technology Solutions, with a specialism in IT consulting—funded by the Government Apprenticeship scheme—get on-the-job training and earn a competitive salary, all while developing your skills and confidence in the workplace.

After an initial six-week residential training at Ada’s Manchester campus, you’ll follow a block release schedule consisting of six weeks working on your projects at Capita Consulting, and one week back at Ada. Working as a trainee consultant in a small, multi-functional digital project team, you’ll create, build, implement and operate effective digital solutions. You’ll immediately be able to apply your study to the projects you’re working on – whether that’s designing AI powered chatbots for councils and insurance companies, building speech and text analytics prototypes for financial services companies, or helping design next generation digital policing solutions.

We’ll give you all the support you need along the way, using a structured induction programme to prepare you for the role. We’ll assign you a buddy to show you around and answer any questions you have, as well as a mentor who’ll be there to offer career advice. You’ll also have access to a development coach who’ll help you write a development plan with targets to achieve and links to online resources you can access during working hours. At the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll have a BSc in Digital and Technology validated by the Open University, no student debt, three years’ work experience and a job as a digital consultant working in one of the most exciting sectors in the UK.

This is a combined office and home-working role, which will be based an average of two days a week at one of our three Capita Consulting hubs in either Birmingham, London, or Newcastle, whichever is nearest your home.

To be eligible to apply, you'll need to provide proof of being resident in England at the start and for the duration of your Apprenticeship. Please note we are unable to cover relocation costs.

What you’ll be doing:

  • collaborating in digital squads to design and deliver innovative digital solutions for our clients
  • working in Agile sprints to rapidly deliver projects
  • understanding the problem, building prototypes with low code tools, testing ideas, applying feedback and supporting a live product
  • learning about design, cloud engineering, data science, project delivery and innovation related subjects at Ada National College for Digital Skills
  • sharing your ideas and suggestions in meetings—your thoughts will always be welcomed!

What we’re looking for:

  • a curious mind
  • a passion for problem solving
  • an appetite for learning
  • a great team player who enjoys collaborating
  • someone who’s adaptable and open
  • 3 x A levels with grades BBC /112 UCAS points (or equivalent) + GSCE Level 4 English and Maths

What’s in it for you?

  • A competitive apprenticeship salary
  • 25 days holiday
  • Company matched pension, life assurance, a cycle2work scheme, 15 weeks’ fully paid maternity, adoption and shared parental leave, paternity pay of two weeks…and plenty more
  • Voluntary benefits designed to suit your lifestyle – from discounts on retail and socialising, to health & wellbeing, travel and technology
