As part of our growth strategy for the London Office we are on the lookout for exceptional people to enter our organisation. For this role we are looking for someone who matches our vision that through the support of Senior Engineers and staff can grow into a fully-fledged engineer with the ability to become a leader in our industry.

As a member of the department your responsibilities will include input to the delivery of the Mechanical & Electrical Services Design on assigned projects along with general assistance to the electrical engineering team.

The position demands excellent communication skills; you will be representing Harley Haddow through direct contact with clients and other design team members. It also requires a commitment to the role and your ongoing learning and development with attendance on the Graduate Apprenticeship Engineering Design & Manufacture BEng Hons degree part of your role.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Assist the electrical engineering team with day to day tasks
  • To assist in the preparation of Electrical Services Scheme Design proposals
  • To assist in the delivery of Electrical Services detailed design/ production information
  • Be actively involved in the day to day operations of the design office
  • Be willing to adapt and gain vital experience to develop your engineering and design skills

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Have an analytical mind
  • Use critical thinking to find solutions to engineering problems
  • Have a high level of computer literacy - previous use of Autocad would be an advantage
  • Ability to multitask, work to tight deadlines and manage own workload
  • To be able to represent the company through direct contact with clients and other design team members via email, phone, video call and in person
  • Strong communication skills

  • Self starter with naturally inquisitive nature
  • Ability to work within a team and equally as an individually
  • Ability to look in to the detail of situations but also stand back and see the bigger picture
  • To be a confident & capable individual
  • Be committed to studying for the Graduate Apprenticeship degree whilst working


Desired qualifications

  • A Level BBC or;
  • BTEC National Diploma DDM or;
  • Access to Engineering qualifications with 15 Distinctions and 30 Merits including Maths and Physical Science credit or;
  • Equivalent level 3 qualifications worth 128 UCAS points
  • Level 3 qualifications must include maths and Physics
  • Applicants must hold 5 GCSEs A-C including maths and English or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above).


Future prospects

Harley Haddow offer the following benefits to staff;
  • 30 days holiday per year inc public holidays. Staff have to use 3 of these days for 25 & 26 Dec and 1 Jan but other days can be used as you wish throughout the year.
  • Additionally our offices close between Christmas and New year so staff receive an 3 extra days holiday although that is at Director discretion.
  • Pension with Aviva - Harley Haddow contributes 5% and minimum employee contribution is 3%.
  • Pay 1 professional membership a year.
  • DIS is 3x salary.

Things to consider

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
