As part of our award-winning Apprentice Programme, you will develop your skills and knowledge whilst working on high-profile civil engineering design projects for a diverse client base, gaining valuable work experience at the same time as earning a competitive salary. This hands-on experience is complemented by one day per week at Coventry University where you will be studying for a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering. Many of our Apprentices go on to eventually achieve Chartered Engineer status.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work with project teams on the design and development of cutting-edge projects within the built environment
  • Use specialist programmes including AutoCAD and Revit to assist colleagues with design on exciting projects
  • Prepare design reports and drawings
  • Contribute to solving technical problems with your team
  • The opportunity to attend site visits with Engineers to assess and survey the site as required
  • Supporting administration of projects

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Experience of any relevant design software or willingness to learn
  • Knowledge / keen interest in engineering principles

Personal qualities

  • Strong team player but also able to work well on own initiative
  • Passion for Civil Engineering
  • Proactive and willing to contribute and develop ideas
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Enthusiastic and goal-orientated

Desired qualifications

  • Five GCSE's at grade C/4 including maths & English

  • (A Levels) 112 UCAS tariff points (e.g. 2 B's and 1 C at A2) Must include maths, 'Use of maths' is not deemed a valid substitute).

  • (BTEC) Obtaining a DMM (or equivalent) with at least a Merit in both maths and further maths. Acceptable courses are: Civil Engineering, Aerospace, Construction, and Mechanical Engineering.

Future prospects

Upon successful completion apprentices will gain IEng status and can start to work towards chartership.
