Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technician - Reading

An opportunity has arisen for a Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team based at Prospect Park Hospital in Reading where the working hours are Monday-Friday 9am-5pm and 10am-6pm.

While learning the practical skills that Pharmacy Technicians require you will also undertake and complete the Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technician qualification starting in September 2021 (day release to college). Completing this qualification will enable you to apply for registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a qualified Pharmacy Technician at the end. This is a fixed term contract for two years

You need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade C / four or above, including Mathematics, English and two Science qualifications. Previous experience of working within a pharmacy setting would be desirable.

You will need to be self-motivated, organised, able to work efficiently to deadlines and be able to work under pressure at times. You will be expected to work through the department on a rotational basis as set out in the two year timetable, covering dispensary, pharmacy stores, medicines information, medicines safety and ward based working.

About the Job
  • You will complete the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians over two years with college attendance one day per week.
  • You will be able to spend time completing rotations within all areas of our department
  • You will spend some time working on mental health wards and on community health wards to be able to complete ward based learning for the apprenticeship.
  • You will be expected to participate in the late duty rota whereby the hours are 10-6pm.
  • You will take part in departmental training sessions to develop your training/learning objectives and develop leadership skills.
  • You will also take part in the appraisal process and engage in regular 1:1 meetings with your line manager as part of your on-going development.

The 3 "must haves" for you to be considered for this role:
  • Five GCSEs or equivalent at grades A-C /9-4, including Mathematics, English and two Science qualifications.
