About the location and post:

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist with a passion for delivering outstanding care and treatment, to join us at our brand new CAMHS service.

Joyce Parker Hospital is our specialist CAMHS service which opened in late 2020. The service supports young people aged up to 18 with a range of mental health disorders. You will be working 40 hours per week at Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital, Coventry and will hold a caseload on our new ward due to open later this summer. You will be supported by a highly specialist SLT who also works on site.

About the job...
  • This is a full time position (40 hours per week).
  • You will be required to assess, diagnose and play a key role in the management of young people with complex communication needs, behaviours that challenge and other diagnosed/undiagnosed conditions.
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will use expert skills to assess, advise and intervene with the aim of promoting functional communication systems and optimal independence. You will be able to, under the guidance of the supervising SLT, train others, promote good practice and maintain a successful total communication environment.
  • This role is suitable for an existing band 5 or an ambitious Newly Qualified Therapist.

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist with:
  • Strong clinical and professional skills
  • Experience or keen interest in the field of CYP, criminal justice and Mental Health Conditions.
  • Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support with an emphasis on person-centred planning.
  • Ability to work under the guidance of another SLT
  • Evidence of being a strong team player with a genuine desire to help others
  • Good organisational and project management skills
  • Ability to work flexibly in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Enthusiasm, motivation and passion
