The Role

We are recruiting for an enthusiastic Estates Maintenance Craftsperson having a Mechanical/Plumbing bias and knowledge of other trades.

The post holder will work within the Trust's Maintenance team to carry out; equipment maintenance, installation work, inspections, testing, repairs and commissioning on a wide range of plant, equipment and services by conducting planned and reactive maintenance. The post holder may be required to participate in the Trusts out of hours' on-call rota; all in accordance with the requirements and needs of the department, Trust and statutory procedures.

Applicants need to have had substantial post qualification experience and have served a recognised apprenticeship or as a minimum NVQ level 3 or Equivalent City & Guilds Qualification in a Mechanical Engineering or Plumbing qualification plus post apprenticeship experience working in a healthcare or Hard FM similar customer facing role.

Experience working within the health service is not essential however; you must be able to demonstrate knowledge of other trades. The successful applicant must have a broad working knowledge of mechanical or plumbing systems, the ability to work from drawings and specifications without supervision, be computer literate and able to work under pressure to meet the needs of the service.

This role requires excellent communication skills as you will be liaising directly with clinical and non-clinical staff and service users. The post holder will have the skills to develop good working relationships in a multi-disciplinary team and have a positive attitude and strong commitment to delivering a professional estate service.

The service covers the main acute hospital site and various sites within the community; the Trust has a pool of vehicles for this purpose. Applicants must hold a full Driving Licence and have a willingness and ability to drive Trust vehicles, for travel between sites.
