We are currently looking to recruit a Degree Apprentice to join our London Infrastructure & Environment team in September 2021.

Job Description:

As part of our award-winning Apprentice Programme, you will develop your skills and knowledge whilst working on high-profile structural engineering design projects for a diverse client base, gaining valuable work experience at the same time as earning a competitive salary. This hands-on experience is complemented by one day per week at London South Bank University where you will be studying for a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering. Many of our Apprentices go on to eventually achieve Chartered Engineer status.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Work with project teams on the design and development of cutting-edge projects within the built environment
  • Use specialist programmes including AutoCAD and Revit to assist colleagues with design on building projects
  • Prepare design reports and drawings
  • Contribute to solving technical problems with your team
  • The opportunity to attend site visits with Engineers to assess and survey the site as required
  • Supporting the administration of projects

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Experience of any relevant design software or willingness to learn
  • Knowledge / keen interest in engineering principles

Personal qualities

  • Strong team player but also able to work well on own initiative
  • Passion for Civil / Structural Engineering
  • Proactive and willing to contribute and develop ideas
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Enthusiastic and goal-orientated

Desired qualifications

Apprenticeship candidates will have at least three A levels at Grades A*-C including mathematics and Physical Science (Either Physics or Chemistry) or will have completed aBTEC National Diploma in a relevant field for the degree.

Candidates are also required to start the programme holding a Level 2 maths and English qualification (GSCE or equivalent grade A*- C / new tariff grade 4 or above), which is compulsory within the apprenticeship requirements.

Future prospects

We would expect candidates to become integral member of the team with future prospects to continue with education to become Chartered Engineers.
