Job Details

Key Responsibilities:

To assist the doctors in providing a caring and efficient service

Welcome and register patients arriving for appointments

Answer phones in a helpful and professional manner

Arrange appointments

Take messages, taking full and precise details and following correct and appropriate procedures

Assist patients and other health care workers with enquiries, following procedures and ensuring confidentiality at all times.

Ensure all communication procedures within the office are carried out correctly

Main duties

Assist members of the office team in carrying out routine procedures, which may include:

Process computer data, ensuring data is correct, accurate and relevant to that patient

Scan/File hospital letters/reports

Prepare medical records for surgeries/clinics

File medical records on shelves

Prepare prescriptions following practice protocols

Prepare signed prescriptions for collection by patient/chemist

Ensure the smooth running and recall of any delegated clinic/specific clinical procedures

General Requirements

Be aware of practice policies, health and safety, fire, etc

Attend staff meetings and appropriate staff training

Ensure office is kept tidy and well stocked

Any other tasks as may be so required to ensure the smooth running of surgeries, clinics, patient care and CCG/Health Authority communication

Communicate with medical secretaries concerning appointments
