About the apprenticeship

Duties

Provide efficient and timely administration service to the GPs, managers and team colleagues. To ensure that Reception runs smoothly providing a high level of service to patients, clinicians and other team members.
Follow procedures to create patient files. Receive bag from Health Authority to collate notes with new forms. Print summaries for inclusion in patient records. Tidy all records received in date order and filed correctly. Ensure filing up to date.
Photocopy accurately and in timely manner. Shred confidential information. Send faxes as requested. Open and distribute incoming mail. Envelope and frank outgoing mail.
Answer telephone calls. Manage appointment requests.
Process prescription requests.
Observe Health & Safety (including COVID), Confidentiality and Privacy Protocols at all times.

Applicants may care to be mindful that we are a rural business poorly served by public transport. Ideally, successful candidate will have access to means of transport for commuting.

We deal with the full spectrum of the public. Candidates must feel that they are capable of managing occasional difficult and challenging patients on both the telephone and in person (although support always present).

Skills

The apprentice should be smart, punctual, polite and motivated. Will need to be able to learn quickly and to work to trained tasks unsupervised. Clinical administration and reception are demanding, busy environments and confidence, self-discipline and team working are essential.

Data protection and confidentiality are at the core of all business work and the candidates must understand the importance of privacy.

Qualifications

5 GCSE including English Language and Mathematics as a minimum.
A level and BTEC welcome.
