Part-time Band 5 Engineering Technician - Mechanical (16 -20 hrs per week)

Current B5 annual salary - £24,907 to £30,615 (£10,627 to £16,328 pro-rata) + a pro-rata Recruitment and Retention Premium of up to £1747 per year.

The Estates Department at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is looking to recruit a demonstrably experienced part-time Mechanical Engineering Technician to undertake maintenance and new installations on a wide variety of mechanical services and equipment within the Trust's properties.

The applicants must have completed a time served apprenticeship, be suitably qualified and self-motivated with good communication skills.

Applicants will be required to demonstrate a sound understanding of the engineering systems found within a modern healthcare environment along with hands on demonstrable maintenance experience. Systems include sterilisation equipment, water hygiene & distribution, ventilation & heating systems, medical gas, steam and compressed air.

The vacancy is for 16 to 20 hours per week, flexibly worked over 2 or 3 days to ensure adequate cover is provided. There will be a requirement to cover a number of late shifts (1400 - 2200) currently 1 in 4 weeks, and to take part in an on-call rota following a period of familiarisation.

A full driving licence is essential and there will be a requirement to visit other properties operated by UHP.
