A new and exciting opportunity has arisen on Vaughan Thomas Ward, Warneford Hospital, for a band 3 Health Care Assistant (HCA). We are interested in recruiting someone who is looking to gain skills as an inpatient Mental Health Care Assistant (HCA) or for a more experienced band 3 HCA who is wishing to develop the range and breath of their knowledge and skills with a view of further opportunities to develop.

VT is an 18 bedded acute ward plus a Hospital Based Place of Safety (HBPOS). We provide care and treatment for up to 18 patients, experiencing first episode or chronic mental health problems . We offer a wide range of therapeutic interventions to the men and offer continual support to family and friends with our weekly group.

Healthcare Assistants and Support Workers contribute significantly to the standards of nursing and patient experience and outcomes, providing valued support to our inpatient nursing and therapy teams.

This role can be the first rung on the ladder to becoming a qualified nurse. You can progress through our apprenticeship framework without having to attend and fund a full time university course.

Care Certificate:

All new non-registered clinical staff will receive an induction to the Trust that enables them to complete or refresh the Care Certificate.

The Care Certificate is a national certificate, which was introduced to provide the public with assurance that the staff looking after them have been assessed as having the correct introductory skills, knowledge and behaviours to enable them to provide safe, compassionate, high quality care.

The Care Certificate consists of 15 standards assessed in practice by completion of a portfolio. Completing or refreshing the Care Certificate, attending local induction and having the support of your clinical team will enable you to build on your existing skills and develop skills and behaviours needed for a successful career with Oxford Health.
