What will the apprentice be doing?
This apprenticeship will give you a clear understanding of the key manufacturing processes including planning, safe machinery operation and resource management. Working in manufacturing also involves linking with other functions within the business such as Technical, Development, Finance and Human Resources so requires good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Full support and training will be provided to help you progress quickly. Depending on the site, the scheme may offer placements within a factory based role with responsibility for a team, running production lines, quality and output costs.
The work environment can be cold, and when busy will entail being inside for long periods of time. However, it is also a very positive place to work and the experience gained will be invaluable for the future.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
3 x 1 week blocks each academic year for module workshops. They will then get the opportunity to put this learning into action when they return to work. There is also a soft skills development programme they will complete with the other apprentices from around Bakkavor
You will complete a Level 5 Operations/Departmental Manager standard as well as a Level 5 Higher Education Certificate in Food Manufacturing Operations
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
The expected career progression at the end of this apprenticeship is for the apprentice to become a Production Operative or Team Leader.
