To plan and deliver 1-2-1 mentoring/coaching/support sessions with identified learners agreed by your line manager on a range of subjects that may be hindering individual learning.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • To plan and deliver group coaching sessions/workshops with identified learners agreed by your line manager to develop their engagement and attendance
  • To manage a caseload of students
  • To monitor and record attendance and punctuality of learners
  • To provide regular reports on the student case load/engagement
  • To plan and deliver a wide range of extra-curricular activities which promote learning, good behaviour, better social skills and well-being
  • To work closely with college teams including Curriculum, Additional Learning Support (ALS) and Student Services to identify and support the coaching and mentoring needs of learners which you support
  • To listen to learners and help them resolve a range of issues that are creating barriers to their learning through coaching
  • To network with other learning mentors, teachers and relevant external agencies and professionals
  • To assist where and when necessary with the induction and enrolment of learners
  • To ensure your line manager is informed immediately of any concerns in relation to the learners you coach/mentor
  • To report any safeguarding, prevent and health & safety concerns through the college reporting systems
  • To attend team meetings and those that are specifically in relation to the learners that you coach/mentor, such as pastoral support programmes or liaison with multi agencies
  • To contribute to team and individual minimum levels of performance and target KPIs as agreed with your line manager
  • To work with the Work Experience Coordinator to ensure learners are prepared for work experience placements
  • To work with Student Services, Quality and Curriculum teams to ensure cross college activities and events are recorded and coordinated
  • To work with teachers, managers and/or senior LSAs to contribute towards learner support plans
  • To provide regular feedback to teams regarding learner progress
  • To maintain accurate records on named learners using Pro Monitor recording systems
  • To provide regular written reports on your work as a Progress Coach
  • To attend college and other relevant training sessions as required or necessary including relevant coaching and mentoring qualifications
  • Any other duties as required by the College commensurate with grade and position

  • It is expected that applicants will hold a Level 2 qualification in English and maths and achieve a minimum of L1 in their assessment


Future prospects

  • Upon successful completion of your apprenticeship, there may be an opportunity to continue your learning to a higher level within the company or be offered a full-time position. This will be reviewed by you and your employer at the end of your apprenticeship
