Would you like to start an exciting career as an Apprentice Ward Clerk in the Haematology Oncology Suite within the NHS whilst achieving a nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification? Do you want to make a difference?

An opportunity has arisen in the Haematology Oncology Suite for a 36 hour apprentice. The post has a comprehensive training programme with opportunity to shadow other areas in the hospital in order to obtain a varied experience in the clerical areas of the hospital.

What this Opportunity means:

• The apprenticeship is a work-based training programme where you will be able to develop your skills, including English and Maths, and to gain a nationally recognised qualification in Business Administration.

• The successful post holder will provide support to an efficient and confidential clerical team with duties including making appointments, managing and preparing clinics, receiving and making telephone calls, while working with a varied group of staff.

• You will attend a 1-day Corporate Induction introducing you to our Trust & ensure you settle in

Your Application:

• As part of your development you will learn a variety of administration and customer service skills. We therefore require applicants who have excellent keyboard skills, good working knowledge of MS Office and the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines. You will need excellent communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a great team.

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust consists of a 600 bedded large district General Hospital, which provides its services on the Countess of Chester Health Park, and a 64 bedded Intermediate Care Service at Ellesmere Port Hospital. The Trust has almost 4,000 staff and provides a range of medical services to more than 445,000 patients per year from areas covering Western Cheshire, Ellesmere Port, Neston and North Wales.

If subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975, then a disclosure submission will be made to the Disclosure & Barring service (formerly CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Enhanced DBS check applications that are submitted with omitted or incorrect information will be withdrawn. In the event errors are identified on your original application, a new application will need to be submitted and you will be required to pay the DBS application fee again.

The cost of the DBS application is £28 (standard) or £45 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first three months of employment.
