Post: Band 6 Occupational Therapist role

Salary:£37,500pa DoE

Base:Cygnet Lodge Kenton

Responsible for:
  • Autonomously providing an occupational therapy programme of recovery-focused interventions for a case load of 15
  • Supervision and management of the OT assistant within the service

Responsible to:Head of Occupational Therapy (Harrow); OT Director and Regional Lead OT, and Hospital Manager for line management.

Hours:37.5 hours per week

Overview of site/Ward:

Cygnet Lodge Kenton, in North-West London, is a female high dependency inpatient rehabilitation service that provides a care pathway for service users who are preparing to step down. It helps to bridge the gap between hospital admission and community living. Our service provides a high level of support and uses a recovery focused model.

The service helps individuals to re-establish and develop the skills they need to progress over a period of 12-18 months, through focusing on community based activities, the use of public transport, education and vocational therapy, job placements, work experience and development of hobbies and interests.

Our tight-knit MDT provides a supportive service that is designed to support the individual in our care throughout their journey with us and captures and manages risk and relapse in community settings. The team consists of nurses, psychologist, psychology assistant, occupational therapist, as well as 24/7 support from the nursing team.

As an Occupational Therapist, you will assess, implement and develop an OT treatment programme according to individual diagnosis and identified needs. This will be based upon findings from assessments including associated risks, in order to develop treatment plans accordingly within the multidisciplinary team.

  • The Successful Candidate should be/have:
    • A registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council)
    • RCOT Membership
    • An understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and can take a "hands on" approach
    • Excellent communication and time management skills
    • Passionate about student education
    • Ability to manage highly demanding clinical presentation
    • Experience in the field of adult mental health
    • Working as a Band 5 emerging into a Band 6 OT
