The primary functions of this position are:
  • To ensure Technical awareness and control within the Foundry.
  • To provide technical support to the Ops, Projects, Commercial and Foundry Inspection teams.
  • To provide support for critical stages within the process including cast supervision (some out of hours working required), this involves working with molten liquid steel.
  • Creating, reviewing and controlling process procedures for items within the foundry.
  • Supporting project management of customer orders including liaising with customers both on and off site.
  • Supervision of critical stages within the process, cast supervision (some out of hours working required).
  • Liaising with other departments with respect to inspection visits of clients or third-party representatives.
  • Liaising with contractors.
  • Assisting with the technical review of customer enquiries.
  • Generation of NCR's and CAR's
  • Attending relevant departmental/management meetings (Technical, Production & Quality).
  • Attending meetings with customers in support of enquiries and orders.
  • Providing input into the development of new products and processes.
  • Ensuring employees are compliant with working to Health & Safety and Environmental codes.
  • Any other duties commensurate with this role.

Desired qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:
  • GCSE (or equivalent) mathematics and English language at grade C or grade 4, or above - plus one of the following
  • 112 UCAS points including at least 64 points from two A levels or equivalent BTEC National qualifications, including mathematics or a mathematics-based subject to at least AS level

For example:
  • BBC at A Level including mathematics or a mathematics-based subject plus at least one other from physics, physical science, engineering science, computer science, technology, chemistry or other science or technology subject
  • DMM in BTEC Extended Diploma in a science or technology-based subject (including passes in mathematics and two other science or technology-based modules)

Or:
  • A combination of qualifications which must include mathematics or a mathematics-based subject and may include AS levels, EPQ and general studies GCSE
  • We may also consider applicants with relevant work experience


Future prospects

Salary progression:
  • Year 1: £11,000
  • Year 2: £13,000
  • Year 3: £16,500
  • Year 4:£19,000
