The apprentice will receive significant on the job training across all aspects of the finance function focusing specifically on both Management and Financial accounts, alongside study for the professional qualification, developing in to a well rounded qualified accountant.

The apprentice will play an important role in the day to day functions of the Management/Financial Accounts team. Working with a number of experienced qualified and part qualified colleagues to gain a breadth of knowledge and experience.

During the 3 year programme duties will include;
  • To assist the Finance Business Partners in the production of the Management Accounts for the Group
  • To assist in the production of the annual budget for the Group following discussion with the Managing Directors and Management Team
  • To assist the Senior Financial Accountant in the production of the Annual Year End Accounts for the Group
  • To assist the Senior Financial Accountant with the external audit including liaison with auditors, preparation of detailed working papers and other such documentation required for review
  • To assist the Senior Finance Business Partner and Senior Financial Accountant to provide advice, guidance and financial information to the Board, Executive Management Team and Management Team
  • To attend Board and Committee Meetings of the Group and make presentations as and when required
  • To support the Management Teams of the Group to adhere to the service charge process
  • To provide information and support to the budget holders within the Group to assist them in the delivery of their budgets
  • To maintain an awareness of relevant regulatory and statutory requirements affecting the preparation of statutory accounts
  • To maintain the underlying financial records of the Group in accordance with statutory and auditors requirements
  • Maintain an accurate and up to date Asset Register for Associated Companies ensuring that all depreciation, additions and disposals are dealt with in an appropriate and timely manner
  • Support the monthly close down of the ledgers ensuring that all transactions and journals are processed and the Trial Balance is accurate and complete
  • Ensure all Balance Sheet accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis and reconciling items dealt with in a timely manner
  • Assist the Senior Financial Accountant to ensure all VAT and Corporation Tax returns are completed and submitted on time
  • To advise the Senior Finance Business Partner/Financial Accountant, Head of Finance and the Group Finance Director of any irregularities
  • Co-ordination and reporting of department KPI's


Successful completion of CIMA's professional qualification will lead to the designation of Associate Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA) and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). The qualification is recognised worldwide as the most relevant global finance qualification for a career in business.

Management Accounting combines accounting, finance and management with the business skills and techniques you'll need to add real value. Chartered Global Management Accountants (CGMAs) are qualified to work across businesses, not just in finance, advising managers on the financial implications of big decisions, formulating business strategy and monitoring risk.

Future prospects

It is anticipated that at the end of the 3 year programme an opportunity may be available for the right candidate to progress to an accountant role within the company. The programme will develop a well rounded qualified accountant.

Please note you wil be working from home however you will also be expected to go into the office.
