Applicants will need:
Three Level 3 qualifications including Mathematicsand Physical Science or a Level 3 apprenticeship as a Civil Engineering Technician.
Entry onto the apprenticeship is also subject to a thorough initial assessment to establish course suitability. Ideally applicants should have also have at least 4 GCSEs including English and maths at grades 9- 4.
Proof of qualifications will be required before you can be accepted onto the apprenticeship.
PLEASE NOTE: All applicants regardless of entry requirements will be emailed an Initial Assessment to complete as part of the recruitment procedure. This is an online assessment in English and maths and can be completed at your preferred location remotely. Currently, due to COVID19 we are not offering Initial Assessment appointments at either campus. Those without the stated entry requirements or awaiting GCSE/GCSE retake grades, will be offered further advice and guidance to support their application if required.

- Contribution to work within Suffolk Highways allocated priorities
- Ability to identify problems/concerns/issues within own service and implement solutions as agreed
- Ability to carry our basic fact finding and report back

- Ability to provide advice and guidance to other staff and/or public within own specialism
- Short term planning around own workload
- Provide advice and guidance on agreed procedures
- Ensure own health and safety responsibilities are met/procedures are followed
- General office duties
- Develop good working relationships with customers
- Gain an appreciation of Civil Engineering and the career opportunities available within Suffolk Highways and the wider industry
- Recognised guidelines and procedures cover all work undertaken and a manager/senior officer will be available for consultation and guidance on problems
- Unanticipated problems or situations would be referred to supervisor/manager
Requirements and prospects
Desired skills
- Good levels of literacy & numeracy skills required
- Demonstrable IT skills
- Working knowledge of IT systems e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word
- Keyboard and mouse skills required to undertake a range of tasks. E.g. production of reports, correspondence, documentation, data input, interrogation of systems etc.
- Good verbal and written communications skills required to convey information with a range of audiences, including staff of all levels, members of the public etc.
- Dealing with enquiries from members of the public
- Previous work experience
- Experience in dealing with the public
- Experience of working in a team

- Commitment to study and learn outside of work
